Role Overview

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) invites applications from energetic, forward thinking young professionals for its 150 Apprenticeship Trainee positions. This structured, practical training program is designed to build technical capabilities, provide hands-on experience in modern utility management, and prepare successful candidates for long-term technical careers within Uganda’s water sector.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution infrastructure and sewerage pipelines.

  • Assist senior technical staff with meter readings, leak detection, routine pipe inspections, and pressure monitoring.

  • Learn and apply water sampling procedures, quality testing, and treatment plant operational workflows.

  • Support field operations team in responding to customer service tickets and service delivery inquiries.

  • Maintain accurate field logs, complete daily apprenticeship task reports, and follow utility safety protocols.

  • Attend scheduled technical training workshops and complete practical skill evaluations.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Craft Certificate in Water Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, Laboratory Technology, or a closely related field.

  • Experience: Fresh graduates or early career technicians seeking practical industry placement.

  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of utility pipework, tool handling, mechanical operations, and technical reporting.

  • Core Competencies: Strong commitment to safety, eagerness to learn, high physical adaptability for field duties, and teamwork.
